High levels of antibiotic resistance genes found in Chinese pig manure

Chinese and US researchers found high levels of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in manure on commercial pig farms in China, suggesting that the unregulated use of antibiotics in farm animals is allowing the spread of such genes, according to a report in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).
