The ring takes about a quarter-turn ~90 degrees to move through its focusing distance; the ring is slightly stiffer than usual, but still turns easily through its range. With the lens in hand, we were finally able to see how accurate those promises were. Other testing including indoor testing shows similarly good flare avoidance. I was not expecting much, but I found that it is nothing like the poor performer that on-line reviews had led me to expect. The new Sigma was also promising something special and many of us were anxiously awaiting two data points. And that is a very positive attribute of this lens. Pentax does produce an older , but we haven't yet had the opportunity to test it. There is no rattling or flexing to be found with this lens. The other two are only available in black.
